Crafting for a cure

Check out the little somethings I made this past week while on spring break with the kids.  I have a large box of misc yarn.  I figured the best way to get rid of it while doing some good was to make up a bunch of  infant and preemie hats for Crafting for a Cure.  I still have a lot of yarn left that is just perfect for these little hats. 

Makinging my own checker set

I have been digging in to my husbands left overs again.

I want to add a small 1/2" frame around the sides and then shellac it.  I'll have to wait until he can rip some of the lumber down for me.  I have used the table saw before but anything smaller than 3" just freaks me out.

I have a few boards cut down to the same size.  I want to make a few more games.  I just have to figure out which ones I want to make.

Hey Mom look what I made...4

I just love this alien.  This was one of those things I started awhile ago and never finished.  The last time I broke out the fabric paint Pumpkin HAD to help.   I didn't have any extra tee shirts to play with so I put everything away.

50's Day

Pumpkin has a 50's Day party today at school.  So of course I had to make something for her to wear.  She really didn't have any skirts that I could just add the poodle to so I cut up an old pair of my pants and sewed it my hand.  I'm dreaming of a new sewing machine for Christmas.

Halloween Crafts

I raided Ed supply of scrap wood and we had some fun yesterday.  The kids always enjoy painting.  We still have a  few things that are in the basement drying.  I'm trying to control my urge to hit the craft store today.  Most of my paints are dried up.  I haven't touched most of them in at least 6 years. 

Painting T shirts

Last night we decided to work on some t shirts.  Michael picked out a robot for his shirt.  This one was hard to cut out because of all the little pieces

Here are the steps we did.

1 print out an image on the computer.

2 cut out the image from freezer paper

3 Beat you son for 15 minutes because he blew all the timy pieces across the table

4 piece everything back together like a puzzle

5 iron them on quickly before son comes back into the room

6 paint

7 dry

8 peel off paper

9 wear

I don't like the silver on the blue but that was what he wanted.

Nicoles puppy was so much easier to do.

For Cinderella we used a iron on pen put the outline on the shirt.  There was no way I was going to cut those lines out.

knitting loom

We have been playing around with our new knitting looms.  We have more scaves than we know what to do with.  We made a few hats too.  This is our first one.

It's currently on the snowman outside.  I'm working on a blanket now.  I find the loom easier to use since the surgery on my wrist.

The last time we made a stuffy we use an old pair of my sox.  This time we used one of Coles old shirts.  The front was covered in paint and glue. So we just used the back and the arms.  For the back and parts of the face we used some pieces from Moes old shirts that we couldn't pass down.  It's a little messy.  I sewed it by hand.  I'm hoping my DH will be able to fix my sewing machine, but I think it's a lost cause.

Building a doll bed

OK, OK, I got a call from sister in law telling I have to up date my blog. It's two in the morning and I'm already up for the day so I figured I better get to it. This is another one of those post I started but was pulled away by one of my kids. Probably the big one. If you know what I mean.

One of the things I love about my husband is.... even thou he is in the middle of working on two major construction jobs he will still stop and take some time for the kids.

Cole had been following him for several hour with a piece of scrap wood. She just kept dragging it from room to room behind him. This was after she nailed several pieces of molding in the middle of the floor. So anyway she pulls the piece up to him and says "Daaaaaddyyyyyyy" You know in that way only a little girl can do, with a little eye batting thrown in there. Oh, he was a goner. "Daaaaddyyyyyyy, can we build something?" taking measurements

A nice little doll bed made from just scraps of lumber and left over paint mixed together. I know he had planned to make a cradle together with Cole, but for a quick spur on the moment project I think it came out great.

Before and Aft-HER

BEFORE & AFTER Meet- Her. Yep, that's her name. It was so cold out side I didn't want to do anything. So we sat on the couch and veged out. It took me about two hours to make. Cole stuffed it and Moe strung the star buttons onto the needle. I have a big brown "spot" that I wanted to put on her back, but I ran out of thread. I may just try this again with a nice pair of argyle socks. Next time I'll make sure to make the front legs the same size as the back, then maybe it will stand. The kids are currently walking Her right now. - They put a string on like a leash and are draging her around the kitchen island, yelling "Come on puppy."

Craft time fun

The kids made some flowers for Grandma. We are still a little early for Valentines day. I've been trying to get them to work on the cards we have to send out for our preschool Valentine exchange. They are just not interested at this time. Moe will only sit through craft time as long as he is allowed to make a mess.

Popcorn Day

We had made Popcorn flowers and of course that was our snack of the day.
