Why oh why would my son be up and dressed for school at 5:30 in the morning?  He must be crazy!

Freehold Spooktacular

Yesterday we went to the Halloween Spooktacular.  They do such a wonderful job.  It's all about the hayride.  They used to go around the streets through downtown and volunteers did little skits in front of their houses.  They now moved it to a park.  It is so much better.  We saw a lot of friends there.  Michael was right up front and he got so scared he jumped in my lap and cried and cried.  I was trying to figure out what scared him the most.  I think it was the headless horseman.  The guy did a really good job but when you asked Michael he said everything was scary.  I'll post pictures when I take them off the camera.

Picture Day

I let the kids pick out what they wanted to wear for picture day.  They like dressing up every once in a while.

Face paiting

Nicole is into face painting now.  The kids went through their band aid faze and their washable tattoo faze.  Now we are on to face painting.  Michael doesn't like it on his face but he likes them on his legs.  Here are a few from the last couple of days.
She wanted to be an angel.  The picture doesn't show it but it is very glittery.

For some reason Michael wanted both a rocket and a comet attacking Saturn.

National Night Out 2012

Yesterday was National Night Out.  We have gone to a couple in the past.  From an adults point of view I think the one they do in Howell is much better.  From a kids point of view you can't beat free candy and rides.  We were the first ones there this year.  Last year the kids wanted to go on all the rides first and then when Nicole finally decided she wanted her face painted it was too late.  So I told her if she wanted it done this year she had to get her face painted first and then go on all the rides.  But of course the pony rides always win over face painting.  The kids got to ride the ponies three times.

While Nicole was getting her face painted Michael went through the alligator bouncy thing, like 20 times.  At this point I think there was only about 6 kids there.

The kids had a ball.  It wasn't as crowded as it has been in the past so they got to go on everything over and over again.

They even got a tour of the ambulance and they showed them how some of the things are used.

Ducky Derby

Ed and the kids headed to Allaire State Park for the Ducky Derby.  Once we heard about the duck race we had to make sure Michael the duck enthusiast had to go.  This was the first time we heard about it but apparently they have been doing it for a few years as a fundraiser for the park.  I missed out because I had to work.  It was a nice outing for Daddy and the kids.

Not a Daisy anymore

Nicole flew up to Brownies today.  My little girl is growing up.  I don't like it.  I want her to stay a little girl forever.  Her troop had a family camp out and bridging ceremony today at Turkey Swamp Park.  We hiked out to the bridge singing.  All the adults lined the sides of the bridge and blew bubbles at the girls as they crossed the bridge.  The girls have done so much over the last year.  I'm looking forward to being able to do more this year with the girls now that she is older and is allowed to participate in more of the activities.  I love the set up of her troop.  They have girls of all ages.  It's nice to have older girls that help the younger ones along.

Crazy Easter Bunny scares all the little kids

Seriously wouldn't this thing scare you!

Nicole's Girl Scout troop was in charge of setting out the eggs for the kids in the town. At least the older girls did. They really didn't have many places to hide the eggs. Ed remembers from being little when his whole family had gone to the egg hunt and not a single one of them got an egg two years in a row. Well these guys certainly made out good. Michael got 32 eggs and Nicole got 18.

A little bit of Easter around here

Michael won this cute little bunny for finding the most eggs at school.  Both of my kids were very lucky.  Nicole won 5 times at bingo.
They also came home from school with these very cute crocheted baskets.  Grandma Glo made one for everyone of the kids in first grade.

We made some very yummy chocolate peanut butter eggs just like my mommy and I used to make.

And of couse we had to dye some eggs.

Michael drew a picture of him and Nicole on his eggs.
Nicole made a duck egg for Michael.

The Lorax Birthday

I am such a procrastinator sometime.  For my kids birthday day I could not come up with something to "do".  All the other kids in their classes are having very expensive birthday parties but they only had to invite one class.  The kids were bugging me to go see The Lorax.  I kept saying no because we had to think of what to do for a birthday party.  Four days before I printed up invites to invite both classes to the movies.  I figured waiting until the last minute less people would show up.  Well I was wrong  almost all of the kids invited showed up.  Even the kids that had already seen the movie.
Like our T shirts I made 1/2 hour before the party :)

Birthday Kids

My little leprechauns turned 7 today.  They are getting so big.  They just have to stop growing - NOW!  I mean it!  We headed over to Aunt Kathy's for her St Patrick's Day party.  Nicole was so shocked when her teacher showed up.  So the kids had dinner with both of their teachers on their birthday.

Ice Cream Social

My little pumpkin had a great time with her Grandmother yesterday.  Grandma took her to the ice cream social at school.  They had to dress alike and since Grandma couldn't find a red shirt for her doll she stayed up crocheting one.  She is such a lucky little girl.  She won two prizes.
