1st Day of 1st Grade

So today is the first day of school for the kids and of course we couldn't even get them there on time.  In all fairness they have to be at school an hour earlier this year.
Nicole also lost another tooth last night.  This was her 5th.

pesky squirrels are at it again

Let me tell you these things are waging war on me.  It must be because I cut down all the sun flowers before hurricane Irene came to town.  I wanted to save as many seeds as I could.  So I cut down all the large sun flowers down saved the seeds that I wanted for next year.  I spent a whole day picking through the damn things to pick out the worms and save the good ones for roasting.  So now the squirrels are pissed at me.  They keep digging up my bulb that I thought were going to make it to next year.  They also started digging in the spots that I just planted seeds for a fall.  I don't know how many times I've reseeded the lettuce and they only seem to dig in the spots that have the new seeds in them.  Get this they appear to be so mad at me that they are now attacking me at work.  I have to thank Bob my supervisor for saving me from one of the little rodents.  I was not so lucky with the second.  As I was pull a box of candy off of a pallet one of them came flying at me and tried to gnaw on my leg.
Seriously the baby squirrel fell off of a box and one of his claws caught on my pant leg although that is not how I saw it in my mind.

Prepping for 1st grade

We have been talking to the kids about school.  You know, prepairing them for getting up early and doing the count down until school starts next week.
This mornig Michael was telling about the robot he was designing to go to school for him and how the robot was going to pick up his math homework and bring it home so he could do his work at home.  He was also designing a robot to shoot fire at his teacher if he didn't like her.  I have to laugh at this because this shows how well he listens to me.  I asked him if he knew who his teacher was.  When he said he didn't, I told him her name.  He did not recognize her name at all.  Then he asked me if she was nice?  I told him he will find out in a couple of days.  I'm just wondering how long it will take him to realize that his Aunt is his teacher and not just a classroom helper.
