Fishing @ Manasquan Reservoir

CRW_8396, originally uploaded by patteykoch.

We took the kids fishing for the first time yesterday. Cole caught the one and only fish. Grandma even tagged along. The water level was so low, I was suprised we caught any thing.
Daddy bought poles for them and they practiced casting down the hallway and off our bed. The first night they had them Cole wanted to take her pole to bed with her.

This is my 100th post- I had to get up early so I could post. Once Cole is up she freaks out if I go anywhere near the computer.

Not quite recovered yet

This morning I went down stairs early to do a load of laundry. I took the laundry out of the dryer and you know... switched the laundry from the wash to the dryer and started a new load of clothes. This is a testimonial to how out of it I am. I go to pick up the clean clothes to fold and I can't find them. It took me like 10 minutes to figure out I put the clean clothes back in the washing machine again.
11:30 PM 1:20 AM
Truthfully I still have not recovered from the lack of sleep for the last two days. All is quiet right now. I'm happy that they finally replaced the gas line out front. Knowing that there was a gas leak and they couldn't find it was just a tad scary. See that generator there with the lights. That was practically under our bedroom window . They finally ran the gas line to our house about 1 in the morning. At 3:30 it sounded like they where having races with the backhoes up and down the street. Moe was in heaven with all the trucks and machines. I had a hard time getting him to come in the house. He spent most of the night in the recliner staring out the window, just dosing periodically.
So, of course the kids sleeping schedule is off. They won't sleep at the same times. So mommy is not sleeping.

Ranting again

Once again I'm without gas. They just replace our gas line July 10Th and now they are doing it again. Now they are putting in a smaller line. NJ Natural Gas has been replacing meters, lines and patching the main line since July. They haven't been able to find the gas leak so they decided they have to replace the whole main line. Now get this all the lines that they have replace over the last month and a half have to be replaced again. Talk about wasting money.

Oh, Boo whooo! I have so much laundry to do and I can't do it. :)
Here are some pictures from a couple of days ago. Daddy's little helper. What ever daddy dose Cole has to try. He was trying to level the capping blocks on the foundation. As soon as he got it level she would go and hit it with a hammer or pull the wedges out and throw it out of level.
Moe- he just loves his trucks. He love to watch daddy, but he would just rather sit off to the side and dig in the dirt.
That's my front lawn. Isn't it pretty?

Renaissance Faire

IMG_8164, originally uploaded by patteykoch.

After Ed worked his brother Ray and I til our muscles turned to mush, unloading concrete from his dump truck. We headed out to the Lakewood Renaissance Faire.

Here we are cheering on our knight Sir Shane in his jousting match. (He's on the right)
We had a nice time. It was a small faire, but very pleasant. Cole was so excited just to ride on the school bus from the parking area to the fair ground. Moe of course slept through the ride in. He misses so much of the things we do, because he sleeps through them. I have more photos on my flickr page if you want to check them out. I just love the costumes.

Just a quick update

I know I haven't been blogging much lately. We've been busy working on the house. Ed just left to go get a load of concrete to finish filling the foundation walls. We had been mixing the concrete one bag at a time and it is taking forever to fill. He wants to start framing the addition soon. I should be getting dressed to go out side and help. Instead I'm sitting at the computer. -I'm so lazy!
Oh, I almost forgot. Yesterday, was a very exciting day. Cole went on the potty twice without any poking or prodding from me. I stopped asking if they wanted to use the potty a while ago. To my surprise she went all by herself. Of course we had a blackout when she was going last night. I'm hoping it didn't cause irreversible damage and frighten her from trying again.
As of right now Moe will sit on the potty if I ask if he wants to, but he has yet to go.

Kite Flying

We had such a beautiful windy day yesterday mommy decided to take our kites to the park. We had a great picnic. The kids ate while I put the kites together. They were so good. They cleaned up all by them selves. They even threw out mommies lunch while I was diligently tying the kite strings.
Cole had a blast, running back and forth. She did get he kite up once or twice.
Moe on the other hand just kept getting tangled in the line. He got so frustrated he threw the kite down and yell "Car, Car, Car" He was out before we even left the parking area.

still working on the house

I can't believe how much we have gotten done on our house. Ed has had a small reprieve from his crazy work schedule. That and the fact it hasn't rained in a few weeks, made it possible to get a lot done. (We also had a lot of help from Ed's brother Ray, Ken and our friend Mike.)
It's hard enough moving clay soil - when it's wet -forget about it. Of course it's due to rain in the next day or two. This morning we filled and capped part of the foundation, so we can set the house back down on it as soon as it sets.
Our next step is the kitchen addition, I believe. At least I hope so, because all the kitchen cabinets are stacked up in our living room. The kids playroom is now in our bedroom. I still don't have a stove. Um yeah it's been 77 days now with out a oven. I'm about ready to go frickin...... you get the picture. I tried making brownies in the microwave a couple weeks ago. Yuck! You just can't bake in a microwave. It's just NOT possible!!
Since it's the end of the season, maybe I'll go out and get a grill. Ours will not light. Of course it's been sitting on the side of the shed for 5 years. I wouldn't light either. I didn't want to purchase a new one until every thing was at least back filled. Now I'm starting to get desperate. I'm so tired of cooking in a crock pot and electric skillet.

excavating

We started digging the front of our house this weekend. We have about 80% of the foundation replaced so far. The kiddies had a front row view to watch daddy work.

the blue period

We have been working on the color blue this past week. I'm starting to get quite discouraged. They just don't get colors. I am always pointing out colors and they very rarely get their colors correct. So I figured we would just concentrate on one color at a time. A few people have said that they are only 2.5 don't worry about it. The way I figure, if they can name all the Dragontale characters and they know the difference between a stegosaurus and a tyrannosaurus rex they should be able to at least know what the color blue is. So this past week we've painted with just blue paint, used just the blue crayons and pulled out all the blue letter magnets. We even ate blueberry muffins, sorted the blue blocks, blue trucks, and the blue stuffed animals. At the end of the week -Cole holds up her play-doh to me and proudly says "lellow"
Oh, I'm still so blue...
