frus·trat·ed

I went to the uniform shop with my mother in law today.  I didn't want to buy anything for my kids for school because, well of a lot of reasons.  The number one reason is because I have yet to hear anything from their school other than a bill that they have been excepted.  If they are billing me that means they must have been excepted right?   Who knows??
So I went with my mother in law who bought the kids each shorts and a shirt.   It was very nice of her.  I went because I wanted to see what their uniforms would be and I have to say I am even more confused than I was before.  I don't know how I am going to survive putting them in a private school.  I do not conform very well.
My biggest problem I think is I am cheap.  I can't see buying a silk screened T shirt for gym for $18 each when I can make them for $2 each or less.   Heck,  I could probably make gym shirts for a whole class for less than I would have to buy one for from the uniform store.  What to do, what to do?
I think I'll send Ed next time.

thumbs up on the corn

We picked our first ears of corn today.  It looks great and tasted even better.  I wish I could have grown more and have had enough to freeze some.

I am amazed she could still eat it without her two front teeth but she did a pretty good job.

Fondant Fun

I was going to buy some fondant for my mother in laws birthday cake but I don't like the taste from the store bought stuff so I decided to make some marshmallow fondant at home.

It was very easy for the kids to work with.  Just like playdoh.

I like whipped cream cheese icing better but since it was so hot out I didn't want the icing to melt or go bad.  We also made a huge cake but of course I didn't take a picture of it.  I even forgot to take my camera to the party.

Spending a lovely day with daddy

Yesterday Ed had off of "work".  So what did we do together as a family?  We went to work.  On the hottest day of the year he had us out screening in a screen room.  I think it was 108 out.  The kids were crabby and that made us crabby.  I think I lost another 10 pounds.  Then the kids got to go to a friends house for a few minutes so Ed could measure for a railing.  Then it was off to a air conditioning call.  We finished it off with a very long wait in line for some Jersey Freeze ice cream.  Even though everyone was in a terrible moody for most of the day, I enjoyed working with Ed again.  It's been a long time since we have be out on the job together.  I'm not saying I would like to do that again.  I would prefer spending the day together at the beach or something.

toothless

Nicole lost her other front tooth last night.  She was trying to hold onto that thing as long as possible.
Look at that goofy smile :)

It a hot hot day today

I made the kids come outside today while I was working in the garden.  I try to make them go outside everyday.  I tried to get them interesting in digging for potatoes, but they didn't want to use their hands.  They wanted to bring out the big shovel and make a huge mess.  Then I sent them on a hunt for the tomato horn worm that I knew had to be in there somewhere.  They finally found him and the worm only held their attention for a few minutes before they decided it was just to hot out.  As Michael was walking back in the door I heard him say "I think I'm going to go hide in the freezer for awhile."

A Lost Tooth

We signed onto Skype last light so the kids could talk to their cousins Dean and Dylan.  Nicole was showing Aunt Bobbie how her tooth in the front wiggled and it fell right out.

We are now calling her toothless.

Our favorite place to go for the fourth of July

Jeannie and Mikes house is a block from Asbury Parks north beach.   The kids love the beach.  So this is perfect for us.  I get to see family, have some adult conversation.  They kids get to play in the sand and the water.

Look even Daddy is having fun.

Once again it looks like I'm not even there.  Our kids have gone through our old pictures and decided that I don't go anywhere with them because I'm not in the pictures.

Drew, Lou and Mike

Hey look here I am!  I have proof that I was there. Me, Jeannie and Jessica.

Oh yeah and there was fireworks too.
